Kaseman Family Portraits
Love doing b&w studio portraits! Thank you Kaseman Family, I'm starting to like this tradition!
Celia & Matt Wedding
Celia and Matt had a SUCH A FUN wedding, celebrating their special day on Linn County Fairgrounds in Iowa. Seriously, their day was so much fun! Celia's family is musically gifted, and all her brothers played drums, her mom and dad did an acoustic set, and the Ramblin' Fever Band (starring her dad, Texas Todd) and so many other wonderful friends got up on stage at one time or another over the night to share their talents. Thank you Celia & Matt so much for having me be a part of your special day! I had an awesome time and wish you two the very best!
Ayla T Senior Portraits
I L-O-V-E-D doing Ayla’s senior photos!! An awesome gal who rocked her shoot in a motorcycle jacket and a flower crown! After we ran around in the Haymarket finding fun spots to do photos in, we went to her parents acreage. The late afternoon sunlight giving some serious sun flare, not something I normally do but it just seemed to fit this time! As we walked around the wooded areas and up and down the hills with native prairie grass chest height high, she told me that when she was 5 years old she told her brother that she wanted to do her senior photos here. I guess he laughed at her and said, “What photographer is going to come all the way out here?” If only I could do every session at your house Ayla:) You're a beautiful soul inside and out, and I wish you the best of luck in all that you do!
And yes, if you STILL haven't scheduled your senior photos, email me asap for info!
Ayla's killer make-over done by the wonderful Alicia at Alicia's Makeup Artistry!
Photographers being friends:) Part 2
Yes, photographers are nice to each other. We learn from each other, we work with each other, we do things together and we have each other's back - it's a great community to be a part of! Earlier this year, when chatting with two photographer friends of mine, Aubrey Leeker and Allison Garrett Johnson, we commiserated how we don't have many photos of ourselves because we're so busy photographing other people. So we planned a day (this was hard) where we could all get together and do mini sessions with all our families. Allison and her husband Kyle were married on a cold day in December, and Aubrey and I were asked to attend her wedding as guests (guest book attendants!) so neither of us were able to photograph our friend. And really, it was GREAT to just be there and experience it in real life! Meaning, if you're at a wedding as a guest, take the opportunity to enjoy the magic of a wedding and don't experience it through a screen! Seriously. Unplugged weddings are more fun for everyone. So... on our evening of mini-sessions, Allison and Kyle threw on their wedding duds again and Taura Horn Photography and The Leekers got to take a stab at photographing these two with the weather a little nicer:)
Photographers being friends:) Part 1
When I talk to other wedding professionals, florists, caterers, etc, they almost always mention how impressed they are that photographers like to play so nicely together. And it's true! We're very friendly with each other, and get together in big groups for dinner or drinks when we have time. While chatting with two of my photographer friends, we decided to do a mini shoot-out together, where we all go someplace pretty and get to photograph each other. Which is AWESOME.
Here are friends Aubrey and Josh Leeker, with June and Winnie.
